Social and Emotional Learning focuses on developing essential social and emotional skills for healthy interactions and personal growth. Students learn to recognise, express and manage their emotions while practising calming techniques and self-awareness.

Unit Overview

In this unit, students will continue to expand their emotional vocabulary and practise calming strategies to manage their feelings.

They will be introduced to positive self-talk as a tool for building emotional regulation and resilience.

Additionally, students will develop social skills through teamwork, respectful interactions, and cooperative play.

They will learn to navigate emotions in various situations while fostering empathy, collaboration, and respect in their interactions with others.

Unit Overview

In this unit, students will refine their ability to understand and manage their emotions by practising positive self-talk and exploring different ways to feel calm.

Through engaging activities, they will develop their calming techniques and choose their favourite ones to help them in different situations.

Students will develop their communication skills by using kind words and actions to share their feelings and ask for permission from others respectfully.

They will also learn to notice how different situations can bring different feelings and how to respond kindly.

Through teamwork activities, students will practise sharing equipment and ideas, using kind words and actions to ensure everyone feels respected and included.

This unit refines students’ emotional awareness, empathy, and respectful communication.

They will enhance their self-awareness by becoming “feelings detectives,” exploring their emotions and recognising how different moods influence their thoughts and actions.

Through mindfulness practice, students will learn to manage their feelings and remain calm in challenging situations.

They will explore how emotions guide decision-making, learn calming techniques like visualisation and positive self-talk and practise strategies for navigating uncomfortable situations.

This unit also highlights the importance of addressing unfair treatment, fostering inclusion and respecting others’ boundaries.

By building skills in assertive communication and teamwork, students gain confidence in managing emotions, valuing diversity and creating a supportive environment for themselves and their peers.

Through interactive lessons, they take meaningful steps toward emotional awareness and collaborative success.
