Overview

Unit 3: Nganhthanun Guugu – Foundation Year is an Aboriginal language unit for Foundation Year students. It aligns to the Australian Curriculum’s Framework for Aboriginal Languages and Torres Strait Islander Languages.

Progress test

In Lesson 5, progress tests are given to students, enabling teachers to assess how well they have learned the language so far and to identify the areas that require more instruction. The test questions are in the teaching guide, and there is a handout on which students can record their responses.

End-of-unit assessment

The final lesson is the end-of-unit assessment, which includes a range of question types (such as circle the correct word, sketch an image of something) to evaluate how well students have mastered the unit’s material. The Teaching Guide contains the unit assessment. At test time, teachers make copies of the assessment and give them to the pupils.
